DAY 1: WILDCOAST ADVENTURE TRAIL
Met on arrival in Durban and transfer to the 'gateway' to the Wild Coast and the trailhead for the Wildcoast Horse Trail (Mountain Biking is also an option). We have the rest of the day to relax.
DAY 2:
An easy horse ride (suitable for beginners), along unspoiled beaches and undulating hills dotted with settlements, to our overnight tented camp set on a riverbank with a view of the ocean.
DAY 3:
The second stage of the trail passes through thick dune forest to the spectacular 'red sands', which is a contrast to the green valleys and blue sea. The trail continues over long sandy beaches, rugged outcrops and hills of green, to arrive at the second overnight camp in time for a late lunch.
DAY 4:
After breakfast we set off for a canoe trip up undoubtedly one of South Africa's most beautiful estuaries, along which the riverbanks are lined with thick forests, bringing us to the base of a prominent waterfall. Further up the river we take a short scramble up to a cave used by Sangomas (spiritual healers). Up yet a further tributary we bolder-hop to another spectacular set of waterfalls
DAY 5:
After breakfast we cross the Estuary by canoe and hike to a shipwreck. After exploring the wreck we head on to an impressive waterfall cascading into the sea. Set further back in the forest is another spectacular waterfall with a cave on the edge of the deep pool. After lunch in the cave and perhaps a swim, we return along a more inland route back to Camp where we set off on horseback back to day two's camp.
DAY 6: OVERNIGHT RIVER RAFTING
A short hike and a vehicle transfer bring us back our transport. It is a 1hr drive to the Umkomaas River where we embark on a fun filled overnight river rafting adventure.
DAY 7: CANOPY TOUR
We make our way to the historical city of Pietermaritzburg and on to the beautiful Karkloof Forest area where our next adventure awaits us, sliding through the forest canopy, with drops of 100m below, a unique opportunity to survey and appreciate the pristine indigenous forest from canopy level.

Our overnight destination is the picturesque Umgeni nature reserve, which is also the headquarters of the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa.
DAY 8 & 9: ST. LUCIA WILDERNESS (2 nights)
Today we meet up with guides from the Wilderness Leadership School and travel up to Zululand's Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, South Africa's first park to get World Heritage status. Leaving the vehicles we shoulder our backpacks and head off for a 2-night wilderness trail experience.
DAY 10 - 13: UMFOLOZI WILDERNESS (4 nights)
Nearby is Hluhluwe / Umfolozi Park, one of the oldest game reserves and wilderness areas in Africa. This is big game country where the white rhino was saved from extinction, today the park has the largest concentrations of both rhino species as well as plenty elephant, lion, buffalo and all the common species of game.

Unlike the average tourist, who will book into one of luxury camps, again we are heading off into the wilderness (25 000ha) on foot for 4 nights on one of the last true wilderness experiences left in Africa.
DAY 14: RETURN TO DURBAN
After breakfast we pack up and hike back to our transport and head back to Durban airport arriving in the early afternoon.
